Scotland

Sunday morning after breakfast we headed off on a drive up the west coast of England and through Scotland to Edinburgh.  The scenery was absolutely beautiful.  The streets in Edinburgh were ridiculous to navigate around with one way streets and lots of construction.  We checked into our hotel at the Premier Inn, ate some lunch, and headed straight out to find Edinburgh Castle.  With trying to cram everything into one vacation we only had a couple hours to view the castle before it closed for the day.  We took lots of photos and were able to see most of the castle. I think the two most fascinating parts of the castle were the crown jewels (which we were not allowed to photograph) and the prisoner of war cells.  After the castle visit, we did a little souvenir shopping and then tried without very much luck to find somewhere to have dinner.  The problem was all the pubs only allowed 18 years or older to come in, so after hours of walking around we just headed back to the hotel.  Most shopping was also closed down so there really wasn't anything else to do.  Luckily the hotel has a really nice restaurant.  So we had dinner, got a good nights sleep, and headed back on the road on Monday.  Again the scenery heading towards the east coast was beautiful.
